Myron was born on October 8, 1936 to Hugo and Annetta (Kalwatt) Knodel of rural Menno. He was raised on the family farm with his brothers and sister. Myron worked in the construction industry as a laborer and worked for the City of Menno before working for the Hutchinson County road crew until his retirement. He enjoyed all of his many work endeavors.
Myron was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending most of his free time in the woods or on the river banks pursuing his passion. He had many memories and stories to tell all who would listen. His fondest hunting memories are of hunting raccoon with his beloved dogs and his trips to Alaska for hunting and fishing. He helped to mentor many young men in the importance of proper hunting and fishing techniques and the observation and respect of the laws and nature.
Myron lived the past 12 years at the Good Samaritan Tripp Nursing Home where he was loved and cared for and where he became a part of the family for many of the employees. He enjoyed his time there and truly loved the many employees who cared for him. Because of this love, all memorials will be given to the Good Samaritan Tripp Nursing Home in his name.
Myron was preceded in death by his loving parents, Hugo and Annetta Knodel and his eldest brother, Elmer.
He is survived by his brother, Howard and his wife, Mary and their two sons and their families, and by his sister, Diane and her children and their families.
Myron will be remembered by his constant smile, his many jokes, his willingness to lend a helping hand and his kindness. He will be missed.
