Pamela "Pami" Anna (Hysell) Casteel born October 10, 1956 passed away suddenly on Wednesday June 28, 2017. She was 60 years old.
The daughter of Orville and Helen (Hoy), Pami grew up in west river in the little town of Dallas, South Dakota. Some of her favorite memories were spent playing with her childhood friend Beans (Jean) and at her Uncle Jake and Aunt Vivs home in Herrick.
On July 8, 1973, she welcomed daughter Mona into her world, a son Chad on September 19, 1975 and a son Wade on August 11, 1976. They all became her life.
Pami was a vivacious woman. Her love for her children strong and absolute. She lived a vicarious life and touched everyone she met and became "Mom" to all of her kids' friends. She was well known for her infectious smile, the ability to tell when one needed a kind word or a shoulder to lean on. There was never a dull moment and hugging was never an option.
Pami was an amazing cook, a story teller, a poetry writer who had dreams of publishing a book to share with the world. She also had a love of animals, a green thumb like nobody's business and loved to quilt. With Pami, her door was always open and the coffee always on. Her most recent love became her great grandchildren, Atticus, Karter, Brynlee and Calahan.
Thankful and blessed beyond words to have shared her life with her are her daughter, Mona (Nick) Metivier of Parker, SD; grandsons, Austin (Tawna) Hysell and Darien Hysell (Celeste Fiedler) of Yankton, SD; son, Chad (Danielle) Smith; granddaughters, Samantha and Jenna, all of Yankton, SD and granddaughter, Sidney Smith; grandson, Evan Smith of Rapid City, SD; children of the late Wade Smith and a brother, Tom (Debbie) Hysell of Colorado; a multitude of nieces, nephews, special friends and adopted "kids" all of whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by son, Wade, both parents Orville and Helen Hysell; siblings, Leila, Duane, Betty, Linda, Marion, Jerry, Bruce and Vern.
