Obituary of Orville T. Wagner

Orville Wagner was born on May 4th, 1934 to Adolph and Jennie(Nedved)Wagner and died July 5th, 2019 at the age of eighty-five.  He attended grade school in Lawrence Township through 1948 and graduated from Wagner High School in 1952.  After graduation, he stayed on the parents farm until June 1955 at which time he enlisted in the United States Army. During his enlistment, he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Fort Carson, Colorado; Fort Lewis, Washington; and Seoul, South Korea.

 

Orville was released from Army active duty in April 1957 and returned to farming with his father.  He helped maintain the farm until the acreage was sold and then moved to Yankton, South Dakota with the parents to help them in their later years.  In his leisure time he loved playing fast-pitch softball and bowling.  With bowling he acquired many trophies. 

 

Orville was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ronald.  He is survived by his brother Wayne of Yankton, niece Sandra of Sacramento, California; niece Rachelle(Kevin) Mansfield of Broomfield, Colorado;

nephew Rodger(Stacey) of Lakewood, Colorado; two great  nieces and one great grand niece.

 

Serving as pallbearers were Donald Kotab, Robert Kucera, Clayton Rados, Francis Soukup, Merle Stone, and Jay Youngbluth, all members of the Wagner American Legion.
