Anita was born on October 4, 1939, in Worthington, MN.  She was the first child and daughter of Henry and Lenore (Miller) Pfingsten.  She grew up on various farms near Worthington, Hutchinson and mainly Grove City, MN.

Anita attended country school, District 40, through 6th grade and then graduated from Grove City High School in 1957.  She pursued a nursing pathway post high school.  Anita attended & graduated from the LPN program at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.

Anita married Harold Weiland on January 9, 1959, in Sioux City, IA.  Harold and Anita were blessed with three children.  Together, the family lived and worked in MN, MI, IA and SD.  They shared 39 years together before Harold passed away on February 23, 1998.

At the age of 12, Anita made her choice to serve God, and her life reflected a true love for His will.

As a nurse, Anita was passionate in the care for her patients.  She worked at various medical institutions.  She talked much of her experience while working at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI.  During the Detroit riots, she needed a police escort to and from work for her safety.   Lastly, she worked with the Yankton County Ambulance Service as an EMT.  She also did home health care in the area.

Besides nursing, Anita was an avid baker.  She sold her bakery goods and became known as the baker of her famous, huge carrot/raisin muffins and blueberry muffins.   Anita also enjoyed growing her beautiful backyard flowers in their Yankton home.  She liked to crochet and loved keeping contact and visiting with her family, relatives, and friends.

Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Harold: her parents, Henry and Lenore Pfingsten of Litchfield, MN: her step-granddaughter, Ashley of Yankton, SD, her brother, Arlin Pfingsten of Boyden, IA, her brothers-in-law, Vernon Swanson, Roy Droel, and Richard Weiland and sisters-in-law:  Ruth Swanson and Shellea Pfingsten.

She is survived by her three children:  Kevin of St. Helena, NE, Brenda of Hull, IA and Bryan of Volin, SD.   Also, she is survived by 7 Grandchildren: Alyssa, (Branden) and Sophia Salser, Tawnee Rae, Remington, Victoria, Teagan and Alexzandra; 3 Great Grandchildren:  Amelia, Madilynn and Riley; 3 brothers: Walter and (Virginia) Pfingsten of Elk River, MN, Robert and (Carol) Pfingsten of Savage, MN, Alvin Pfingsten of Becker, MN; Sisters-in-law: Betty Droel, Verlaine Weiland, Ruth Pfingsten and several relatives and friends.
