Gale J Brewer was born to Paul (Pud) and Lillian (Meyers) Brewer at Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota on November 5, 1932. He was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Church in Yankton.
Gale married Ella Taggart in Vermillion, South Dakota on August 24, 1950. Together they had four children.
Gale resided in Yankton all of his life. He took over the family business, Brewer’s Septic and Garbage, from his father Paul (Pud) after his death. He ran the garbage route for a number of years until he retired. He then enjoyed “junking” as he would call it. Gale could be found tinkering around outside, working on his vehicles, cruising in his truck, and lending a helping hand wherever he could.
Gale enjoyed watching boxing and old westerns on TV, going to the dog races when they were in Sioux City, and playing the nickel machines.
He loved all his grandchildren and usually made sure he had a coin in his pocket and a tootsie roll in his hand for them when they came to visit. Very seldom did you see him without a smile on his face and a joke to tell. He liked to visit with the fellows at coffee and spoke to everyone as if they were a friend.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife: Ella Brewer of Yankton, SD; his three sons: Ronald Brewer, Larry Brewer, and William Brewer of Sioux Falls, SD; son-in-law Rodney Sherman; twelve grandchildren: Gail (Tony) Buehlmann Jr, Katie Sherman (Jason), Billie Jo, Kayla, and Tori Brewer, Miranda Malsom, Jeremy Eels, Justin Brewer (Amanda), Tiffany Brewer, Sherry Brewer-Voudry, Patrick Brewer (Angel), Paul (Jeannie) Brewer. Twenty-One Great Grandchildren and One Great Great Grandson. Brother Jim (Belva) Brewer of Boise ID. Many special Sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Greeting him in Heaven were his Parents, Paul and Lillian Brewer; Daughter, Deborah (Debbie Jean) Sherman, Brother Lyle Brewer.
