Charles was born in Pepin, Wisconsin to Fred and Eveline Gilbery on October 10th 1940. He went to high school at Lake Preston, SD and graduated in 1958. He enlisted into the navy following graduating high school. He worked as a telephone communications for pacific bell in the beginning ended with lucent technologies for 37 years. He enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, motocross and fishing. He was involved in Yankton scramblers mx club and Yankton fire department.
Charles is survived by his wife, Trudy Gilbery of Yankton, SD; son, Jeff Gilbery of Yankton, SD; siblings: Shirley Flemming of Florence, SD, Kenny Gilbery of Balaton, MN, Jean Melquest of Estero, FL, David Gilbery of Lead, SD; grandchildren: Bobby Gilbery of Yankton, SD, Lonnie Williams of Yankton, SD, Brent Gilbery of Yankton, SD, Tyler Gilbery of Yankton, SD and Shelby Gilbery of Yankton, SD; great-grandchildren: Jeremy Gilbery of Yankton, SD, Breeanna Gilbery of Yankton, SD, Hailee Gilbery of Yankton, SD, and Ethan Gilbery of Yankton, SD.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Eveline Gilbery and daughter, Ann Gilbery.
