Dorothy List, age 90 of Yankton (formerly of Scotland), SD passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton, SD. On-line condolences may be sent at: www.opsahl-kostelfuneralhome.com.
Pallbearers are Don List, Gene List, Ronnie Doering, Jason Sternhagen, Nick Sterhagen and Grant Sternhagen.
Mrs. List was born on February 27th 1926 to Fred and Theresa (Mikuska) Klinkner and grew up in Scotland, where she graduated from high school. She was united in marriage to Harold L. List on January 28, 1946. From this union two children were born, son, Gregory and daughter, Cynthia. Following living on a farm near Lesterville for many years, the family moved to Scotland in 1969, and years later after her husband’s passing, she moved to Yankton.
Dorothy was a member of St. John the Baptist church in Lesterville, St Georges Catholic Church of Scotland and lastly, Sacred Heart Church in Yankton. She was employed at J.C. Penny in Yankton for nearly 2-1/2 decades and in later life, a volunteer at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital. She enjoyed dancing, embroidery, playing cards and being with family and friends.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Greg (Cindy) List; daughter, Cindy (Dave) Sternhagen; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, her parents, four brothers: Thomas, George, Raymond, Maynard; four sisters: Mable Sternhagen, Faye Schettler, Gladys Flick, and Lucille Chamberlain, one grandson and one great grandson.
