So sorry for your loss. When my two boys were in sacred heart school they had no problem walking to their own dental appointments with your dad. They loved him as I think most kids did. He was such a kind and caring person which made it easy for kids to love him. In later years my husband Larry and I would attend super bowl parties with your mom and dad....they were always fun!! lots of laughter!! Larry and your dad were bonded in some special activities that I was very thankful for. plus he was always my dentist. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers for your loss and as you grieve.

Sympathy and prayers are with you. I could not be at the funeral today but there in spirit
Jim was one of my first-graders at Sacred Heart School way back in the 1940's.
When I had my first appointment at the dentistry, he teased about the change
in our relationship. Now he was in control!
We always had great conversations even if, as dentist, he had the advantage
as he worked on my dental problems and I was silent because.....
Our relationship later was spottier but he and I would run into each
other some places some times so we would do "catch up."
Prayers for Jim to enjoy his life's merit in God's holy and eternal kingdom.
Blessings on all who mourn this good man.

Jeff and Alicia. So sorry for you loss. It has been years since I last visited with Jim but still have the memories of our times together. The trips to watch the Yankton Bucks when you and Bob were in school, the dinner outings, gatherings at their home and just running into them in Yankton. Was always an enjoyable time and yes, lots of sports conversations. Oh yes, there were some interesting times while I was his dental chair. Memorable times but most of all, Jim was a memorable person.

I have known Jim my entire life...dating back to my childhood when he and my Dad (Joseph Smith, rip) were friends after attending Yankton High School and Creighton University together.
I developed a friendship and became close to Jim during the years following our return to Yankton in 2011 up until his passing. My friendship with Jim was built on having a common spirituality inside and outside of the catholic church. He would tell me stories about my Dad from when they were younger, which was very cool for me!
Although almost 30 years younger, over the past 6 years Jim also became one of my closest "buddies". We attended USD games, announced the Riverboat Days parade the past three years, frequently got together for lunch, golfed together and went sailing on the lake. Over the course of his final month Jim blessed me with the opportunity to help him get to and from his medical appointments as well as help him with his needs at home (groceries, dishes, etc.).
Jeff's family and his beloved late wife Janelle were always in the forefront of his thoughts. Jim always looked forward to his trips to Wisconsin and frequently expressed his pride of Jeff & Alicia both professionally as well as parents of his beloved grandson Connor.
He was a good man, always eager to help others and always appreciative of the people in his life. He was well-known and was loved and respected by even those who did not always agree with him.
Jim maintained his dignity during his last few weeks. At his core, he was a spiritual man always trying to overcome his humanity and be closer to God.
I will miss him.

As much as I hated to go to the dentist, I always enjoyed my visits with Jim. He always took an interest in visiting with me since I am from the Fordyce area where his wife was from. He was a very nice man and always had a smile on his face. I know he loved his wife dearly and talked of her a lot after her passing. My sympathy to his son Jeff and Jims extended family.
Sincerely , Dave Loecker

I am sorry to learn of the loss of your dad. It has been sometime that we have seen one another ourselves and that is truly unfortunate.
I did have the opportunity within the last year to visit with your Dad, Doc Hohn, while having a cup of coffee at Hyvee while I was in Yankton. It had been years since he had seen me and I stopped Doc and re introduced myself to him. His eyes lit up as he and I visited for the short time we spent together talking. It was wonderful to reimense about our high school days with him. He was and is a "Yankton Buck" a title we all hold dear to our hearts.
Please accept my sincere condolences. Keep your memories of your Dad alive in your daily lives.
Respectfully
John Anderson #51
