Obituary of Allen T. Bonertz
Allen was born August 31, 1941 in Yankton, SD to Ervin and Lugardis (Schmidt) Bonertz. He attended grade school in Minominee, NE. On April 30, 1960, he married Mary Ann Mauch. After being united in marriage, they settled in Newport, NE where he worked on a ranch. Later, Allen worked for the USDA in several locations, including: Minnesota, Davenport, IA and Rock Island, IL. In the early 70’s he moved to the Menominee area working at Hartington Feed and Chick. Later, he bought the Minominee Store and managed it until it burned down in 1983. Allen then worked at TSC until 2005.
Allen was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and had many friends. He and his wife traveled to many placed in the United States and to Europe. Allen had many grandchildren whom he loved spending time with and attended their activities. In his lifetime, he made many friends whom he loved to spend time with. He loved doing outdoor activities with his family and friends, such as hunting and fishing. Allen was passed trustee at St. Boniface Church. He loved to do projects around the parish.
Allen is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Bonertz of Menominee, NE; sons, Timothy (Pam Kline) Bonertz of Yankton, SD and Joseph (Susan Kinzel) Bonertz of East Hampton, CT; daughters, Wendy (Junior) St. Pierre of Yankton, SD and Catherine (Bonertz) Jansen of Hartington, NE; grandchildren: Cheryl (Mike) Koch of Yankton, SD, Kim (Brian) Highland of Yankton, SD, Michelle (Dave) Schieffer of Witchita, KS, Ashely (Aaron) Bonertz of East Hampton, CT, Andrew (Leigh) Bonertz of Long Island, NY, Brandyn (Amanda) Bonertz of East Hampton, CT, Nick St Pierre of Yankton, SD, Alecia St. Pierre of Yankton, SD, Cody (Nikki) Jansen of Vermillion, SD, Alison Jansen of Omaha, NE, Grace Jansen, Austin Jansen and Aspen Jansen, all of Hartington, NE and Aubrey Putman of Vermillion, SD; sisters, Joyce (Merle) Lessing of York, NE, Jan (Butch) Schwieter of York, NE, Jean (Kim) Kramer of Washington State and Judy (Rick) Orcutt of Red Cloud, NE.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Lugardis (Schmidt) Bonertz and grandparents, Theadore and Mary (Meyer) Schmidt.
