Obituary of Adeline E. Schweitzer
Adeline was born on November 5, 1923 in Dolton, SD to Carl and Christina Moeller. She joined a very large family of brothers and sisters and half-brother and half-sisters of which she was the youngest and the last survivor. She graduated from Dolton School and was in the last graduating class before that school closed. She enjoyed going to dances and playing ball with her brothers.
Adeline married Francis Schweitzer on February 16, 1946 upon his return from active Airforce duty, thus began the routine of farming and raising a family of 14.
Adeline’s care of her family involved many meals. Still in her 90s a favorite past time was to find and use different recipes. She always like to tell a story about the neighbor kids staying around until the cinnamon rolls and home, hand-made bread came out of the oven. Keeping her hands busy in later years, she made family members blankets and adorned our wall with her crafts. Thanks to her Yankton friends she joined water aerobics which included coffee time and both were a highlight of her week and greatly enjoyed.
Adeline is survived by her sons: Allen, Michael, Bruce (Sandy), Randy, Brian (Shari), Darrold (Lori), Kevin (Kara); daughters: Angela (Randy) Schaffer, Donna (Willie) Cap, Mary (Doug) Baumiller, Pam Jensen, Charlene (Gerry) Hora, Vicki (Garrett) Pachl; daughter in-law, Mary Schweitzer; 45 grandchildren; 59 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Adeline was preceded in death by her husband, Francis; son, Steven; brothers and sisters and her mother and father.
