Obituary of Adeline Ruth Burton

Adeline was born 9 miles southeast of Menno, SD on February 11, 1937, to Albert and Linda (Ulmer) Schaeffer.  She was delivered on the family farm in a blizzard by her grandmother, Anna Marie Mehers.  Adeline met her first love, Arnold Paul Sailer while he was working on the dam in Yankton, SD where they later married on August 14, 1955, in a small country church in Menno, SD.  To this union five children were born.  They resided in Yankton, SD and then moved to Rapid City in 1956.    Arnold past away in 1976 and Adeline married Russell Burton on July 8, 1978, and resided in Lead, SD.  In 1983, they moved to Vail, SD.   

Adeline was a homemaker and worked at Esquires Club in Rapid City, SD.  She enjoyed fishing, camping, singing, bingo and singing together with the whole family.  Adeline also found a love for gardening and raising chickens.  She worked at New Dawn Center until she retired.  Russell and Adeline moved the Chandler, AZ and enjoyed the retirement life until January of 2007 when Russell passed away.  She returned to Yankton to be closer to family, grandchildren and friends.  She always had a smile that brightened up a room and will be dearly loved and missed by everyone.

Adeline is survived by her children:  JoAnn Ruth Sailer (Darryl Young) of Rapid City, SD, Terry Paul (Jody) Sailer of Tabor/Yankton, SD, Connie (Larry) Burgher of Piedmont, SD, Donna Ann Sloan of Rapid City, SD, Arnie Albert Burton of Yankton, SD and Dorothy Richards of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren:  Joseph Pedo, Chris (Felicia) Sailer, Kaleena  Einrem (Pat Hochstein), Adam (Meagan) Sailer, Shawna Sailer, Josh Sailer, Dawn Rose Sloan, Ryan Burton and Nicole Caton and great-grandchildren:  Brodey Peterson, Hannah Sailer, Carter Sailer, Ryker Sailer, Kaley Einrem, Ramsey Einrem, Baileigh Sailer, Rex Sailer, Nia Wray Smith, KayDelyn Smith, Donald Smith, Brooke Caton, Clohe Caton and Jack Caton and brother, Harold Schaeffer of Yankton, SD.

Adeline was preceded in death by her first husband, Arnold Paul Sailer; second husband, Russell Lewis Burton; brothers, Wilbert (Tabea) Schaeffer and Milton Schaeffer; sisters:  Betty (Garfield) Stelzer, Lentina (Wendell) Johnson and Eleanor (Bob) Cavin and sister-in-law, Rita Schaeffer.
