Michael J. Myers, age 45, of Sioux Falls, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 17, 2024. Burial of Michael’s cremated remains will be 11:00 am, Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Yankton. Online condolences may be sent at www.opsahl-kostelfuneralhome.com. Michael Jerome Myers was born on October 17, 1978, in Yankton SD to Lowell and Mary Myers. He grew up and attended school in Yankton.
Michael spent time in St Louis, MO and Colorado Springs, CO before returning to the area and meeting his “old lady” Jayme. They made their life together in Sioux Falls, SD. Michael spent most of his career as a flooring installer, most recently with Larsen Carpet Inc. Michael was known for his quick wit and one liners. He loved animals, especially dogs. In his free time, he enjoyed traveling, concerts, floating in the river, food trucks, and spending time with his friends and family.
Michael is survived by his “old lady” Jayme Kappel, her children Riley and Jayden Allmendinger of Sioux Falls, SD, and his father Lowell (MaryAnn) Myers of Rapid City SD. He also lives on through his siblings Jeffrey (Stephanie) of Huron SD, Kristie (Dan) Blankenship of Slayton MN, Glenda (Jason) Bittner of Sioux Falls, SD, Monica (Neil Schmidt) Dahl of Yankton SD, as well as nieces and nephews Jazmine Myers (Adam Scott and Natalie Philbrick), Tristan (Cassidy) Myers, Daniel, Dawson, and Kaitlyn Blankenship, Colin (Cassie) Swenson, Logan Swenson, Alex Bittner, Jordan and Carter Dahl, great nephew Dax MacConnell, and great niece Rhea Myers.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Philippi, sister Catherine Fern Myers, paternal and maternal grandparents, and his beloved dog Butch.
