Phyllis I. Frager age 87, of Yankton, SD entered her heavenly home at 11:30 AM on Saturday, April 25, 2015 with her family holding her hands as she passed at Avera Brady Health and Rehab, Mitchell, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be11:00 AM, Friday, May 1, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton, with Rev. John Fischer officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Yankton, SD. Visitations will begin at 5:00 PM, Thursday, at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton, SD with a rosary at 7:00PM followed by a Scripture service at 7:30 PM. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Phyllis was born on February 2, 1928 near Alpena, SD to Frank and May (Bennet) Linafelter. The family moved to Woodstock, MN where she attended grade school. She graduated high school from Pipestone High school in Pipestone, MN. She attended General Beadle College in Madison, SD (now Dakota State College) where she obtained her teaching certificate. While there she played in the Homecoming Football Game on an all-girl team. Her first teaching job was in a rural school near Woodstock, MN. She then taught 7th and 8th grade in Rutland, SD. She married Larry (Luverne) Frager on May 24, 1948 in Woodstock, MN. They moved to Wagner, SD where they owned and operated Frager's Cleaners until they purchased Vogt's Fine Cleaners in 1974 and moved to Yankton in 1975. Following Larry's death in 1984, she sold the business to her daughter, Betty and her husband, Dan. She continued to work there for 5 years and then took a position at The Globe working as a seamstress. Phyllis gave of her time and talents helping anyone who asked. She volunteered for more organizations than there is room on this page to name. She was a devoted and active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister and sang in the Funeral Choir. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, American Legion Auxiliary and Church Women United. Phyllis loved to bowl and travel and combined those 2 activities by attending several National Bowling Tournaments across the US. If you asked her she would tell you her proudest accomplishment in her life was her family. She is survived by her 9 children: Diane (Gaylen) Martin, Donna (Danny) Pesicka, Barbara Yungbluth, Janice (Jim) Hilton, Betty (Dan) Orton, Jane ( Mike) Rhoades, Nancy (Tim) Haas, Larry (Kim) Frager , David (Nancy) Frager; 24 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; one very special niece, Teresa Doble and many other nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, one son-in-law, Donnie Yungbluth, one sister and one brother.
