Denise Eleanor Hecht age 74, of Yankton, SD passed away early Monday morning, April 13, 2015 after a brief stay at the Good Samaritan Center, Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial Mass will be 2:30 PM, Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton, SD with Rev. Robert Wullweber officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Yankton, SD. A gathering of family and friends will be 5 to 7 PM, Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, and then one hour prior to the service at the church. Denise (Kollasch) Hecht was born on October 29, 1940 in Whitmore IA to Orville and Betty Kollasch. She spent her youth in Estherville IA. She later married William Hecht on November 25, 1960. To this union 6 children were born: Toni, Tina, Tonya, Todd, Twyla and Tami. The family moved to Yankton in 1968. Denise worked various jobs in Yankton, her most recent being the 1st Bank Card Center, where she worked her last 17 years until her retirement. Denise enjoyed her life by painting, doing many crafts, gardening, crocheting, crossword puzzles and going on drives with her girlfriends. Her bubbly personality was evident in her wonderful sense of humor and her smile, which will be missed by us all. Her kind heart and giving nature was known well by all who knew her and were recipients of her gifts. She never just made one of anything. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Toni (Scott) Stevens of Tucson AZ, Tonya Hackett of St. Cloud MN, Todd (Audrea) Hecht of Yankton SD and Twyla Weber of Sioux Falls, SD; her grandchildren: Kristie, Heather, Robbie, Kelsea, Alyssa, Shaylee, Cindy, Kelly and Rachael, as well as 13 great-grandchildren, who all were her greatest joy. She is also survived by one brother, Jim (Eva) Kollasch of Smithland, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Tina, and daughter, Tami at the age of 44, two brothers, Orville and Kenny and one sister, Edna "Kay".
