Dorothy C. Kralicek, age 95 of Yankton passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Yankton with Rev. Ken Lulf officiating. Burial will be in the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Crofton, NE. Visitations will be from 4-7 PM, Monday. December 28, 2015 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton with a 7 PM rosary and a 7:30 PM Scripture service. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
In her usual and considerate way, Dorothy Schieffer Kralicek (95) Yankton, waited until the Christ Child's birthday had passed and then quietly passed away the day after Christmas at Avera Sister James in Yankton. Dorothy was born April 8th, 1920 at Menominee, Nebraska to Fred & Elizabeth Hoesing. She married Victor Schieffer in 1941. Their 12 children are: Denny (Jackie) Schieffer, Sun City West, AZ, Judy (Richard) Stratman, St. Helena, NE, Joyce (Willie) Haberman, Menominee, NE, Paulette Schieffer (deceased), Roger (LeAnn) Schieffer, Crofton, NE Keith (Casey) Schieffer, Spring, TX, Fran Schieffer, Yankton, SD, Dan (Amy) Schieffer, Broken Arrow, OK, Kevin (Laney) Schieffer, Sioux Falls, SD, Vickie (Gene) Konken, Yankton, SD Virjean (Chuck) Fejfar, Sioux Falls, SD Joe (Sherry) Schieffer, Crofton, NE. These families blessed Victor & Dorothy with 34 grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren. Â
In 1987, Dorothy married Don Kralicek, Yankton. Her step family includes daughter Donna (Wilfred) Tramp, Crofton. Frank (Jolene) Kralicek, Yankton...eight step grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Dorothy's life was about her faith, family love, hospitality, generosity and hard work. She enjoyed her kitchen, sewing machine, quilting, prayer books and her cribbage board. She was always a great example and brought love to all whose paths crossed hers. Dorothy's children will forever cherish the lessons and ethics she taught from her own experiences growing up in the era of the Great Depression.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, her infant daughter Paulette Marie, her two husbands, Victor (1985) and Donald (2003), two grandsons, Brent and Nicholas Schieffer, and brothers; Hilary, Francis, Robert and Emery Hoesing.Â
Her surviving siblings include Sr. Leonette Hoesing, OSB, Twin sister, Della Goeden, brother, Clarence Hoesing, and sister, Arlene Wohlman, two sisters-in-law, Roberta Hoesing, and Phyllis Hoesing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls Chancery Office, 523 North Duluth Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD 57104 for the Seminarians or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online donations to donors@stjude.org.
