Emil P. Zeeb, age 85 of Menno passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Menno-Olivet Care Center, Menno, SD.
Memorial Services will be 1:30 PM, Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church, Menno with Rev. Theresa Jacobson officiating. Military rites will be by the Rames-Bender American Legion Post #152 Honor Guard, Menno and the South Dakota Army National Guard Honor Guard, Sioux Falls, SD. Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Aisenbrey-Opsahl-Kostel Memorial Chapel, Menno is in care of the arrangements.
Emil was born on February 21, 1929 to Julius and Ida (Heckenlaible) Zeeb in rural Menno, Hutchinson County. He attended rural Zeeb School through the 8th grade and graduated from Menno High School in 1947. Emil was united in marriage to Elda Huber at Grace Lutheran Church, Menno on April 13, 1951 and together they began farming west of Kaylor. In September 1951, he was drafted into the United States Army and was honorably discharged in the fall of 1952. Emil spent a brief time working for the Homestake Gold Mine, Klaudt Service, Menno Lumber Yard, Hutchinson County Highway Department, B-Z Construction, and Zeeb Construction. Every Tuesday afternoon for a number of years, Emil would visit many people at the Menno-Olivet Care Center.
Those who survive Emil are the Bride of 63 years, Elda Zeeb of Menno, SD; daughters, Patsy Friesen of St. Cloud, MN and Peggy (Steven) Mettler of Menno, SD; son, Dan Zeeb of Freeman, SD; 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor (Wilbert) Renner of Springfield, SD; brother, Carl (Linda) Zeeb of Menno, SD and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius Zeeb and Ida Zeeb; brother, Wilmer (Esther) Zeeb; infant brother, Leo; son-in-law, Don Friesen; and niece, Brenda Zeeb.
