Robert "Rob" L. Young, age 48 of Irene, SD passed away Monday, September 1, 2014 at the Golden Living Center, Salem, SD. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 6, 2014 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, Yankton, SD, with Rev. Dani Jo Ninke officiating. Burial will be in the Martinus Lutheran Cemetery, rural Utica, SD at approximately 3:45 PM. Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, SD.
Robert "Rob" was born June 9, 1966 in Yankton, SD to Gary Young and Illa List. He was baptized in Yankton and confirmed in Naperville, IL. He was a self-employed in tooling leather. He was a member of Shgualrof (for laughs (spelled backwards) motorcycle club). He was a self-motivated individual and helped out animals, children and people. He went to school at MMI (Motorcyle Institute) at which time his motorcycle passion really took off. He did many things for people; more than we will ever know! Rob was a large man with a large heart and one big teddy bear when it came to kids.
He is survived by mother, Illa Torgerson of Irene, SD and his father, Gary (Alice) Young of Rochester Hills, MI; grandmother, Marge Young of Yankton, SD; son, Peter Welcott-Young and Kerstern Hanson of Wakonda, SD; 2 grandchildren, Cooper and Corra; brothers, Chad Young of Irene, SD and Russel (Erin) Young of Rochester, MN and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pete and Bernice List and Max Young and his step father, Dolan Torgerson.
