Gladys Luverne Braunesreither, age 93 of Yankton passed away on Friday evening, December 4, 2015 at the Avera Yankton Care Center, Yankton. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Martinus Lutheran Church, rural Utica, SD with Rev. Dean Schroeder officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories immediately following the service with a lunch at the Ernest-Bowyer VFW. Visitations will begin at 3 PM, Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton with a 7:00 PM Prayer service and video tribute. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers will be Dean Braunesreither, Kent Braunesreither, Allan Braunesreither, and Rodney Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be her Friends at the Sunrise Apartments and card players.
Gladys was born on November 7, 1922 to Earl and Tillie (Jancik) Havenar in Lesterville, SD. She was baptized in Lesterville Congregational Church on April 20, 1930. She graduated from Yankton High School in 1940 and worked for Gurney Seed and Nursery before getting married. On June 11, 1946, she was united in marriage to Wilbert Braunesreither at Martinus Lutheran Church, rural Utica, SD. After marriage, they lived on the family farm and raised three children: Deanna, Larry and Robert. Gladys taught Sunday School for many years at Martinus Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Martinus LWML and the local Extension Clubs. After her husband passed away, she moved to the Sunrise Apartments in Yankton where she spent her remaining years. She loved cooking for the family, playing cards, reading and doing puzzles. She loved her family and will be missed immensely.
Those who will cherish her memory are her son, Robert Braunesreither of Yankton, SD; her daughter, Deanna (Raymond) Bertrand of Yankton, SD; grandchildren: Steven Hoebelheinrich, Lisa Hoebelheinrich (Josh Lenoff), Leslie Hoebelheinrich, Dean Blomme, Jenna Braunesreither, and Whitney (Travis) Devine; step-grandchildren, Carrie (Tim) McCoy and Annie (Kerry) Jacobson; great grandchildren: Josi and George Gilbertson, Olivia and Madeline Blomme, Brooke and Jett Devine, Frederick and Bentley Hoebelheinrich; step great grandchildren: Jack, Lucy, and Ginger McCoy and Dylan and Emelia Jacobson.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Braunesreither, her parents, Earl and Tillie Havenar, her son, Larry Braunesreither, and granddaughter, Lori Blomme.
