Harry Jay Batcheller, age 64, of Yankton, SD passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014. A celebration memorial visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Yankton Elks Lodge #994, 504 West 27th Street, Yankton, SD. Burial of his cremated remains will take place privately with immediate family. The Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, is assisting with the memorial service details.
Harry was born August 25, 1949 to Paul and Mary Batcheller in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He attended public school in Sioux Falls and later graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business and Accounting from Mount Marty College. Harry became a Certified Public Accountant and established his own accounting firm in Yankton, where he practiced for 30 years.
Harry married Patricia Preheim on January 12, 1973 in Freeman, South Dakota. They made their home in Yankton for 41 years and were blessed with two children, Jill and Jay.
Harry's true passion was for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and farmer. From African safaris to Alaskan fishing trips, Harry filled his life with many adventures shared with great friends. His individuality and generous spirit will be greatly missed.
Harry is survived by Pat Batcheller of Yankton, SD; their children, Jill Batcheller of New York, NY and Jay Batcheller of Yankton, SD; his brother, Tom Batcheller of Sioux Falls, SD and his sister, Betty Usera of Denver, CO.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary and brother, Dick.
