Janet Rae (Hoxeng) DeBolt passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at her home in Alexandria, VA.
Janet Rae was born on September 29, 1936 to Henry and Alma (Engen) Hoxeng and was raised on a farm northwest of Volin. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. Janet attended Volin grade school and graduated from Volin High School, she continued her education graduating from Augustana College with a degree in Education. For a number of years, Janet taught in Sioux Falls. On November 1, 1959, she was united in marriage to Don DeBolt at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Volin.
Those who will cherish memory are her husband, Don DeBolt; her two sons, Jim (Lisa) DeBolt and Jeff (Ildiko) DeBolt; grandchildren: Lee Michael, Miya, Diana, Christopher, and Victoria; her sister, Darlene Pederson of Yankton, SD; in-laws, Kay and Ron Gogolin of Huron, SD and Carol and Gary Slate of Richmond, VA; many nieces and nephews and mother-in-law, Vi DeBolt of Huron, SD.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, LaVerne and his wife, Norma (Johns) Hoxeng and Warren Dale and his wife Darlene (Sorenson) Hoxeng, brother-in-law, Virgil Pederson, and father-in-law, Carroll 'Bud' DeBolt.
Graveside Rites will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in rural Volin, SD at a later date. Memorials can be directed to: Faith United Church, 44874 303rd Street, Volin, SD 57072.
