Sharon K. Peterka, age 68 of Yankton passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton, SD.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Majestic Bluffs Gathering Place Sister James Chapel, Yankton with Rev. Ken Lulf officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitations will be one hour prior to the service at the Sister James Chapel. Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton is in care of the arrangements.
Sharon was born on July 4, 1945 in Yankton, SD to George and Norine (Rheiner) Peterka. Sharon was a very special person. She attended Elm Grove School District #53 as well as a special needs classroom in Yankton. Sharon loved to read and watch television. She especially enjoyed sit coms and soap operas. The Wizard of Oz was Sharon's favorite movie; so much so that she could almost recite the lines by heart. Sharon enjoyed holidays. Being born on July 4th, she especially enjoyed all the activities associated with that holiday. Sharon enjoyed being surrounded by her family; in particular her young great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Norine Peterka and her sister, Teresa. She is survived by her brother, Dennis Peterka (Diane) of Waverly, IA and her nieces and nephews and their families.
