Marvis DWayne "Marv" Tronvold, age 79 of Yankton, SD entered his heavenly home after a sudden illness on Monday, June 15, 2015 surrounded by his family at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, SD. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the United Church of Christ (Congregational), Yankton, SD with Rev. Molly Carlson officiating. Burial will be in the Yankton Cemetery, Yankton, SD. Visitations will be from 5 to 8 PM, Friday, at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, SD with a Scripture service at 7:00 PM. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Marvis was born October 25, 1935 to Oscar and Ingrid (Gjoraas) Tronvold in Geddes, SD. He was baptized at Morningside Lutheran Church, Platte, SD and confirmed at Bloomington Lutheran Church, Platte, SD. He attended and graduated from Platte High School in 1954. He lettered in track and football and was on the school paper and yearbook staff. In 1957, Marvis married Corrine Carda (now deceased) and to this union, two daughters were born, Marcie and Tami. In 1965, Marvis married Joyce Hayen (now deceased) and to this union, a daughter, Kristi was born. Marvis then married Linda Winterringer Olson in July 1976. They had a son, Brad and a daughter, Cindy.
Marvis was employed in a variety of jobs including: The Courthouse in Lake Andes, SD Maytag Electric in Sioux Falls, SD, City Office of Platte, SD, The Road Department in Mitchell, SD, Lakeside Dairy Delivery in Sioux Falls, South Dakota Human Services Center in Yankton, SD and was currently employed as a bus driver for the Yankton School District.
Marvis was a member of the Sons of Norway, Missouri Valley Train Club, United Church of Christ and Lewis and Clark Campers.
Marvis is survived by his wife, Linda, children: Marcie Tronvold of Yankton, SD, Kristi (Steve) Petersen of Tabor, SD, Brad (Michelle) Tronvold of Yankton, SD and Cindy (Josh) Bohlmann of Sioux Falls, SD; brother, John (Elsie) Tronvold of Platte, SD; sister, Joy (Harlan, Jr.) Taylor of Highmore, SD; 2 step sisters, Annette & Karen; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Marvis was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ingrid Gustad Tronvold; daughter and son-in law, Tami and Dennis Tweedy; grandparents, John & Maria (Hogen) Tronvold, Ingvold and Jette (Grav) Gjoraas; brother, Darold Lee Tronvold (in infancy); nephew, Chris Winterringer; stepfather, Ben Gustad; stepsister, Jane; great-grandson, Nyle Petersen (in infancy) and niece, Deneen Wielenga.
